What makes K-Pop special

K-pop dance is precise, synchronised choreography set to pop tracks around 100–135 BPM. Every section has 'point' moves — signature hits that define the song — and the standard is sharp, clean, on-the-beat execution. Learning K-pop is learning choreography fast and drilling it until every detail is exact.

Why looping helps for k-pop

  • 01Loop the hardest 8-count of the choreography and drill it on repeat instead of running the whole song.
  • 02Slow a fast section to 70% to learn the move count by count, then speed it up.
  • 03Drill the point choreography until the hits land exactly on the beat.
  • 04Practice transitions between sections by looping the join between two parts.

Drills to try

Point move isolation

Pick the signature move of a song. Loop the 8-count it lives in. Drill just that move for 32 reps until the timing and shape are exact.

Slow learn, fast clean

Slow a fast section to 70% speed and loop it. Learn the footwork and arms cleanly, then step the speed up to 90% and full tempo across reps.

Transition drill

Loop the join between two sections (e.g. verse into chorus). Drill the transition until you stop hesitating at the seam.
