Q: What is BeatLoop? A: BeatLoop is a music practice application designed for dancers and musicians. It allows you to access music from your local device, YouTube, or Apple Music, then create precise audio segments, set markers, loop sections, adjust playback speed, and record video synchronized with your audio for practice and instruction.
Q: How do I create my first session? A: Tap the "+" button on the home screen, name your session, and select an audio source. You can import a file from your device, or search for music on YouTube or Apple Music. Then add markers and create segments on the timeline.
Q: What audio sources are supported? A: BeatLoop supports three music sources:
Q: What's the difference between Free and Premium? A:
The exact free-tier limits are shown in the app and may change over time.
Q: How do I add markers? A: Tap the "Add Marker" button below the timeline or tap directly on the waveform where you want to place a marker.
Q: How do I create a segment? A: Select a starting marker, then tap "Select segment" and choose an ending marker. You can link multiple segments for complex routines.
Q: Can I adjust playback speed? A: Yes! Use the speed controls to slow down or speed up playback. This works with all audio sources including local files and streaming music.
Q: How do I save my work? A: Sessions are automatically saved. Tap the "Save" button to ensure all changes are preserved.
Q: Can I share my sessions, and what gets shared?
A: Yes — you can share a session as a .beatloop file through your device's normal share options (messaging apps, email, AirDrop, etc.). What's included depends on the source:
Sharing happens directly through the app you choose — nothing is uploaded to or stored on BeatLoop's servers. Please only share content you own or have the rights to share.
Q: How do I play music from YouTube or Apple Music? A: When creating a new session or selecting audio, choose the music source you want. For YouTube, you can search directly. For Apple Music, you'll need to connect your account first in the app settings. Make sure you have an active subscription for the streaming services.
Q: Do I need a subscription to use streaming features? A: For Apple Music features, you need an active Apple Music subscription. YouTube features work with any YouTube account. BeatLoop does not provide music subscriptions.
Q: Can I use BeatLoop offline with streaming music? A: Streaming music from YouTube and Apple Music requires an internet connection. However, sessions created with local audio files work fully offline. Session metadata (markers, segments, loops) is always available offline.
Q: Does BeatLoop download or store streaming music? A: No. BeatLoop does NOT download, store, or cache any audio from YouTube or Apple Music. Music is streamed in real-time via each service's official API. Only session metadata (markers, loops, segment points) is stored locally.
Q: How do I record video with my audio session? A: Tap the camera icon in your session. Set up your recording preferences and start recording. Your audio segments will play automatically during recording.
Q: Where are my videos saved? A: Videos are saved within the app and can be accessed from the Videos tab. You can also export them to your device's photo library.
Q: Can I share videos on social media? A: Yes, but you are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any music in your videos. Social media platforms may flag or remove videos containing copyrighted music. See our Terms of Service for details.
Q: How do I upgrade to Premium? A: Tap your account icon and select "Upgrade to Premium". Premium features are available through in-app purchase on both iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store).
Q: How do I manage or cancel my subscription? A:
Q: What happens to my sessions if my premium expires? A: Your existing sessions remain accessible. You can play them back but cannot add new markers or segments beyond the free tier limits.
Q: Can I share my premium account? A: Premium features are tied to your account and cannot be shared. Each user needs their own premium subscription.
Q: The app crashes when I load a large audio file. A: Try these steps:
Q: My markers disappeared after closing the app. A: Make sure to tap "Save" before navigating away from your session. If the issue continues, check that the app has proper storage permissions in your device settings.
Q: Audio playback is choppy or distorted. A:
Q: I can't import audio files. A: Verify that:
Q: Streaming music isn't playing. A: Check the following:
Q: How do I delete my account? A: Go to Account Settings > Delete Account. Your account is deactivated immediately and your personal data is permanently erased within 30 days. During those 30 days, signing in again with the same credentials restores your account — this protects you against accidental deletion. If you want immediate, irreversible erasure with no grace period, email privacy@on-beat.de. Payment and invoicing records are kept for 7 years as German tax law requires.
Q: What data does BeatLoop collect? A: We collect the minimum necessary for the app to work:
Audio and video content is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to us. Streaming music is NOT downloaded or stored by BeatLoop. We show no ads and do not sell your data.
Q: How do I turn push notifications on or off? A: Notifications are off unless you actively switch them on. You're asked once, in a prompt separate from the Terms. Turn them on or off any time in Account > Settings, or in your phone's system settings. Turning them off unsubscribes your device immediately. We only target notifications by subscription tier and app language — never individually. See Section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
Q: How do I turn analytics on or off? A: Analytics are off unless you actively switch them on. You can change your mind any time in Account > Settings. If analytics are off, nothing is collected and the app works exactly the same. We use PostHog, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, and your events are never linked to your account, name, email, or location.
Q: Does BeatLoop scan the files on my phone? A: On Android, the file browser lists audio and video across your device's shared storage, including media folders created by other apps, so you can pick any track. This runs entirely on your device — file names and paths are never sent to us or anyone else. You can revoke the media permission any time in your device settings.
Q: What are my privacy rights? A: Under GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to:
Contact us at privacy@on-beat.de to exercise these rights.
Q: Is my audio content private? A: Yes. Local audio files and session data are primarily stored on your device. We do not access or analyze your audio content. Streaming music is accessed via third-party APIs and is not stored by BeatLoop.
BeatLoop is intended for users who are at least 16 years old. Users under 16 should not create accounts or use the service.
